Family Devotion Day 37: All of us can do missions!

Read

Matthew 25:37-40 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

Do you know how many foreign workers reside in Singapore? Over 1.4 million! That’s about 1 foreign worker to 4 Singaporeans. Every day, we have the chance to meet some of them. In the MRT, in the hawker centre, in our neighbourhood.

Jesus has called us to go make disciples of all nations. This is called the Great Commission. And here in Singapore, the Great Commission is right at our doorstep.

God has brought the nations to us in Singapore!

The majority of foreign workers in Singapore come from countries like Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. We can do missions here right where we are!

We do missions unto Jesus.

When we feed the hungry, comfort the broken-hearted and meet the needs of the poor, we are allowing them to experience Christ. That’s missions!

All of us can do missions!

From today, let us all approach these brothers and sisters in Christ that God has brought to us, to show them Jesus through our words and actions.

/ Discuss
  • What daily needs of the foreign workers among us can you help to meet?
  • Together with your parents, find out where foreign workers can get help with their living, working and medical needs. Think about volunteering or donating to these places.
/ Pray
  • In the Bible, Jesus showed us what He did for the poor, the needy and the hungry. Pray that Jesus will help you do the same by showing His love to these brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Ask God what you can do to answer His call for every Christian to participate in the Great Commission.
