We are living in an exciting time in history! God is not just working throughout the world, but also in our nation. And guess what? He desires to use us to fulfil the great things He has in store for Singapore.
Today’s text in 1 Samuel suggests how we can experience a taste of God’s awesome power — not only in our lives, but also in our churches and nation. Here are 3 things that we need to do:
Identify your giant
Take time to identify your giant, just like how David identified his giant (a Philistine named Goliath). It may come in the form of fear or some words that have been spoken about you. Giants make you feel small and keep you from becoming what God wants you to be.
Discover the importance of knowing God
David had the courage to battle his giant because He believed that God would give him victory. David remembered how God had helped him to fight bears and lions when he was protecting sheep. He did not just know facts about God from other people – David had a personal relationship with God and he knew how powerful God was.
Be bold to step out in faith
Even though no one was willing to take up the challenge to fight Goliath, David stepped out in faith. Because of one young boy and his decision to face a giant in the name of the Lord, an entire nation was impacted. Once Goliath was defeated, the whole nation of Israel regained hope and faith in God.
