Day 02 / 02.07.23 / Bishop Rennis Ponniah, Retired 9th Anglican Bishop of Singapore and Hon Director, Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) Secretariat

Family Devotion Day 2: Be the Light for the Nations!

Read

ISAIAH 49:5-6 And now the Lord says – he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honoured in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength – he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

Learn

Who is the “servant of the Lord”? Those who are loyal to Him and willing to obey His commands. All of us who are in Church are called to be servants of the Lord! This means we need to:

Shine the Light of Jesus in Singapore
We should serve our neighbours, friends and classmates – everyone around us – and share the Good News of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Shine the Light of Jesus in the Nations
Did you know? Many churches and missionaries from Singapore are already spreading the Gospel out to the nations, from nearby Timor-Leste to distant lands like Japan and even Ethiopia!

/ Discuss
  • Who has God placed in your life with whom you can share the Gospel?
  • Do you know of any missionaries, perhaps in your church? Which countries are they in? Share what you know about their lives abroad!
/ Pray
  • Pray for those around you who don’t know Jesus. Pray for the opportunity to tell them about Jesus!
  • Pray for the missionaries that you know. Pray that they are bold to share the Gospel, and are protected by the grace of God!
