Day 7: Together, We Turn Singapore Godward
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, grace and peace be with you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Turning Singapore Godward is not about politics or programmes, it is about prayer, holiness, and proclamation. It is not merely a slogan. It is a spiritual burden. It is a divine invitation.
Let us read the Word of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
This verse gives us both a condition and a promise: If we turn to God, God will turn to us.
Today, I would like to share with you three important truths about turning Singapore toward God.
1. Turning Singapore Godward begins with humility
James 4:6 reminds us that God resists the proud, while He gives the humble grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.”
The greatest danger in life is not failure – it is success without God. In this world, we may experience progress, stability and achievement but sometimes success can make us think: “I don’t need God anymore.”
Pride can quietly creep into our hearts without us realising it. We begin to depend on our education, our career and our institutions. Yet God calls us back to a posture of humble dependence.
The greatest danger in life is not failure – it is success without God.
Humility means recognising: “Lord, I am nothing without You.” It is the confession that apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Let us not forget that revival does not begin out there in the world – it begins in our hearts. So let us humble ourselves before God.
When we bow with a broken heart before Him, God reveals His grace. That grace has the power to transform not only our lives but also our entire nation.
2. Turning Singapore Godward requires seeking God’s face
Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”
God does not respond to half-hearted prayers – He looks for those who seek Him with their whole heart. There is a difference between seeking God’s hand and seeking God’s face. Many seek God’s hand for blessings, success and provision. But God calls us to seek His face, His presence, His heart and His will.
In a busy nation like Singapore, life moves very fast. We are always working, planning and achieving.
But the Bible calls us to pause and seek the face of God. So, make prayer your priority. Make worship your way of life. Let God be your first love again.
When we seek the face of God, His presence comes. When His presence comes, everything changes: Our families will change. Our churches will change. And without doubt, our nation will change.
3. Turning Singapore Godward demands true repentance
Acts 3:19 says: “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.”
Repentance is not simply “asking for forgiveness”. Repentance means turning away from sin, turning towards God and changing our ways.
Repentance is not merely emotional, it requires transformation.
We must ask ourselves honestly:
- Have we turned away from God?
- Have we become spiritually cold?
- Have we compromised our values?
As individuals, as families, as a nation God is calling us back to holiness, to righteousness, to the truth.
Without repentance, true revival will never come.
Revival does not begin out there in the world – it begins in our hearts.
In these days:
- Let us confess our sins.
- Let us turn from our wrong ways.
- Let us turn to God with all our hearts.
- When repentance is genuine, forgiveness abounds.
- When forgiveness comes, healing begins.
God has given us a mighty promise, that if we humble ourselves, if we pray, if we seek His face, if we turn from our wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our nation.
This is the hope for Singapore. God is ready to bring a spiritual revival. The question is: Are we ready to receive it?
Let these 40.Days not pass like any other. Let this be a turning point – turning our hearts, our families, and our nation back to God.
Without repentance, true revival will never come.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts. Lord, we confess that we have often relied on ourselves instead of relying on You. Forgive us for our pride. Forgive us for our prayerlessness. Forgive us for our spiritual dryness.
Father, today we turn to You. We come to You in this 40.Day Season of Prayer, longing for Your presence. Teach us to seek Your face. Teach us to walk humbly. Teach us to live a life of repentance.
Lord, we commit our nation Singapore into Your hands. Let Your mercy flow upon this land. Let Your truth arise again. Let Your justice be established. We ask you to revive our churches. Restore our families and renew our hearts. Heal our nation, O God.
We declare that Singapore will be a nation that honours You, seeks You, and follows You.
We declare that Singapore will turn to God.
We thank You Lord for hearing our petitions and answering it. We give You all the praise and glory. We ask this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
