Family Devotion Day 34: God keeps His promises

The Bible has many heroes of faith. They are men and women whom God loved and talked to and whom He promised many great things. But some of them died before the great things could happen.
Remember Abraham? He was one of them. He heard, saw and believed God’s promises. But he never received what God promised in his life!
Does it mean God lied? No.
God sees bigger and further than we do. He sees eternity – that is forever!
It is exciting to see God’s promises happen. But what if we don’t see it? Can you still live faithfully like the people in Hebrews 11?
Here are 2 lessons from Hebrews 11 that remind us be faithful:
1. God’s promises are guaranteed
Abraham became a father of Isaac, his son, when he was 100 years old! This promise of God’s came true in Abraham’s life. But Abraham never saw the many descendants – grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren – that God promised. Yet, he still trusted God. He obeyed God his whole life and God did fulfil His promise many years later.
2. God’s plans last longer than our lives
Moses saw the Promised Land that God told him about, but he died before his people, the Israelites, could live there. A younger leader, Joshua, was the one who led Israel into the Land.
You see, the God of all people in all history sees time forever and makes everything happen in His time and in His way.
His perfect plan cannot be completed by one generation but by thousands of generations.
Will you choose to believe God with your whole heart even if you don’t yet see His promises happen?
