Family Devotion Day 31: Choose to believe

When God told Abraham to leave his home, He did not tell him where to go. But Abraham immediately obeyed.
Because Abraham obeyed God, God blessed him along the way.
When Abraham wanted a son, God promised Abraham grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who were as many as the stars in the sky.
While Abraham wanted a son to inherit his wealth, God wanted Abraham to have descendants to inherit the world.
While Abraham was thinking of a family, God was thinking of many families in many nations.
God’s plans were far bigger than Abraham’s plans. And Abraham believed God even though it looked impossible.
Here are 3 ways you can follow Abraham’s footsteps when God calls:
1. Obey quickly
Do you delay? Do you argue with God? Do you tell Him that what He promises is impossible? Stop. God can do what He promises!
2. Don’t focus on your own worries
It is natural to have worries, but ask God to show you what He sees. Then you can look beyond your worries.
3. Choose to believe
Abraham saw the stars God showed him – the stars that God Himself made – and he believed.
Don’t wait for God to show you the complete picture before you obey. Many people cannot be trusted; but God can. He leads us step by step so we can learn to trust Him.
God wants us to reach all the people in all the world and to bless them.
It seems impossible. But are you willing to believe more than what you can see?
