2 Chronicles 7:14 <\/cite>\u201cIf My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As a wealthy, highly educated and deeply connected society, Singapore \u2013 and Singaporean Christians \u2013 can easily slip into self-sufficiency. The all-sufficient God has problems with self-sufficient people!<\/p>\n

I believe God wants to turn Singapore to Himself, so how can we allow Him to do so?<\/p>\n

1. We must enthrone God in His rightful place<\/span><\/h2>\n

… as our sovereign God and not a genie in a utilitarian society.<\/p>\n

God has no equal or rival. There is none besides Him, none like Him. Wealth and materialism, and the desire to be number one, must not define Singapore Christians. Instead, we must be defined by our obedience to God as He leads us to do His will and fulfil His purposes.<\/p>\n

2. We must restore true Biblical agape love<\/span><\/h2>\n

Instead of believing that God is love, society has made love a god. And instead of loving people and using things, we use people and love things. I believe that to love someone is to desire the best, to decide the best, and to do the best for them, just as Jesus did.<\/p>\n

3. Instead of pursuing our own agendas, we must build a Church that is united<\/span><\/h2>\n

… not only in Biblical truth and theological conviction, but also in genuine relationships and meaningful partnership, as we work together to fulfil God\u2019s calling for our nation.<\/p>\n

This was the Lord\u2019s prayer for His followers in John 17, when He prayed for the Church to be one, just as He and the Father are one.<\/p>\n

4. We must be consumed with delighting in and enjoying the presence of God<\/span><\/h2>\n

Prayer is a consciousness and enjoyment of the Almighty\u2019s presence. We want His presence so much that we just want to linger in it and enjoy Him \u2013 especially in our hectic society.<\/p>\n

Take the Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) Clocktower Revival in 1972 for example. The students were so consumed by the presence of the Almighty that they would rush to school early. They even forfeited their food and drinks during recess time just to linger in the presence of God. These boys grew up to be good, godly people. Many of them are leaders in the Methodist Church today.<\/p>\n

There was also the Asbury Revival in February 2023, where students enjoyed the presence of God in the chapel service so much that they lingered on and on. Thousands of people came to the town of Wilmore, Kentucky \u2013 50,000 to 70,000 people came to enjoy the presence of the Almighty.<\/p>\n

5. In a chaotic and ever-changing world, we must have the passion and courage to proclaim Jesus Christ as the only Saviour<\/span><\/h2>\n

… who came to die on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day.<\/p>\n

This is the main business of the Church. Our only message is: \u201cJesus Christ loves you.\u201d This is the world\u2019s greatest truth and reality.<\/p>\n

What should we do now?<\/p>\n

2 Chronicles 7:14 reads, \u201cIf My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA revival is the Church falling in love with Jesus all over again!\u201d (Vance Havner)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Be humble. A humble man will soon be a hungry man, and a hungry man will soon be a holy man.<\/p>\n

Pray like we have never prayed before.<\/p>\n

Seek God\u2019s face \u2013 the Anointer, not the anointing; the Giver, not the gifts. Seek not our wants nor our needs, but seek Him and Him alone.<\/p>\n

Turn from our wicked ways and repent of our idolatry, pride, self-sufficiency and other indulgences.<\/p>\n

As we do so, God will heal our land and bring renewal and revival to it.<\/p>\n

What if all Christians in Singapore were united in seeking God and His face daily? Why not pray wherever we are \u2013 in our dining room, our kitchen, our workplaces, our army camps?<\/p>\n

Let us set our sail to catch the wind of the Holy Spirit when He blows across our land. Revival is not an event. It is not emotionalism. Revival is when we are saturated with God.<\/p>\n

\u201cA revival is the Church falling in love with Jesus all over again!\u201d (Vance Havner)<\/p>\n

Let us pray:<\/p>\n

Eternal God and loving Father, we thank You and praise You that Your word says it is \u201cnot by might nor by power but by Your Spirit\u201d (Zechariah 4:6). We know that You said this to all of us.<\/em><\/p>\n

So touch us afresh today. Help us to set our sails to be ready, so that when the Holy Spirit blows upon us, we will catch His wind. Because we will not know when and from where He will come, and when and where He will go. But we know that He is our sovereign God who leads us and guides us.<\/em><\/p>\n

So Lord, touch us afresh today. We pray this in the mighty name of Your Son and our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, amen!<\/em><\/p>\n
