Day 11: All in for Revival

2 Chronicles 7:14 … if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Revival is a gift from God. God gives this grace to His people who seek Him with all their hearts. From the past, we see that whenever believers humble themselves, pray, and repent, spiritual awakening will descend.

Singapore has experienced revivals before. For example, the evangelistic rallies by Dr John Sung that took place from the 1930s to the 1940s. There was also the Charismatic movement that started in the 1970s and went on to the 1980s. Then there was the Billy Graham crusade in 1978. All these drew tens of thousands to the Lord.

Today, I would like to share with you four keys to revival.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says,

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Firstly, we must acknowledge that we need God.

Revival begins with humility. Singapore is a prosperous nation, but true security must be built upon God’s grace, not on our economy or achievements. James 4:10 says:

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Are we willing to lay down our pride and seek God humbly?

Secondly, we need to cry out to God.

The core of revival is prayer. Every spiritual awakening begins with persistent prayer. If we long for Singapore to encounter God’s power, prayer must become our lifestyle. Are you willing to cry out to God for revival?

Thirdly, we must seek God’s face.

We often pray and ask for God’s blessings, but real revival happens when we desire God Himself, not just His blessings. In Exodus 33:15, Moses said:

“If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

Fourthly, we must repent and turn away from sin.

Repentance is not just admitting our wrong but changing direction definitively and turning away from sin. Revival will not come upon a compromised faith. Dr John Sung and evangelist Billy Graham preached messages that pierced hearts — many wept in repentance, laid down their idols, and recommitted themselves to God.

Today, are we willing to repent, turn away from sin, and live lives of holiness?

2 Chronicles 7:14 shows us that when we humble ourselves, pray, seek God, and repent, God promises that He will:

  • Hear our prayers
  • Forgive our sins
  • Heal our land — including spiritual, moral, and even national revival

Singapore is a blessed nation, but true healing comes from God rather than economic or social policy. If we long for transformation, we must obey God’s call.

Revival is not a distant dream. It can begin with our personal lives.

Today, are we willing to repent, turn away from sin, and live lives of holiness?

The 1972 Clock Tower Revival at ACS (Barker Road) reminds us to pray fervently and to long for God’s presence. At that time, a group of students gathered regularly to pray together in the school’s clock tower. They experienced spiritual awakening and were ignited with a passion to evangelise. Eventually, many of them also became pastors.

Let’s not just look back on past revivals, but rise up as the present generation. Let us be All In as God’s vessels of revival!

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves before You and acknowledge that Singapore needs revival. Please forgive our sins, turn our hearts back to You, and ignite the passion for prayer in our churches.

May the power of the Holy Spirit move in this land, and may Singapore experience a powerful spiritual awakening once again! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

/ Reflect
  • Are there areas in your life that do not consider the Lord’s? Reflect on what you may be keeping from God, consciously or unconsciously. What is keeping you from acknowledging Him as Lord over all in your life?
  • The core of every revival is prayer. Reflect on your prayer life – are your prayers persistent, are they urgent? Are you crying out for revival?
  • Many times we seek the hand of God – His blessing, His healing, His provision, but do you seek the face of God? Do you care about what is on God’s heart?
/ Pray
  • For our personal revival. Let us lay down our pride, our idols before the Lord; let us consecrate ourselves and return to our first love. (Revelation 2:4-5)
  • For revival in our family, workplace, school, that we will see with our eyes the Holy Spirit poured out on all flesh, and hearts turn to Jesus.
  • For revival in our nation, that we may truly experience righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit here in Singapore.
